Ground installation consisting of painted plaster body parts positioned on textiles. Plaster body parts: 10 pieces, plaster painted with acrylic, radio aerials; life-sized. Total size: variable.

The body parts are strewn around the room bedded on old clothes and with aerials attached to them. The cut ends of the body parts are painted sterile gray and serially numbered. They are casts of W. W. Anger’s body, with the exception of the central control unit, the head. It seems as if the body parts are using the aerials to attempt residual communication, although this threatens to fail.

Bodeninstallation, bestehend aus auf Textilien platzierten, bemalten Körperteilen aus Gips. Gipskörperteile: 10 Stück, Gips bemalt mit Acryl, Radioantennen; lebensgroß. Gesamtmaß: variabel.

Die Körperteile liegen, auf ­Altkleider gebettet, im Raum verstreut und sind mit Antennen versehen. Die Schnittflächen der Körperteile sind in sterilem Grau lackiert und durchgehend nummeriert. Es handelt sich um Abgüsse des Körpers W. W. Angers unter Weglassung des zentralen Steuerungsteils, des Kopfes. Es scheint, als unternähmen die Körperteile mittels der Antennen den Versuch einer Restkommunikation, wobei diese ins Leere zu gehen droht.

Shop window installation

Materials: national and international newspapers, pastels of prefab houses, photos of details of the Closed Circuit work, monitor with VHS video. The shop-front of a former shoe shop in Wies (Styria) is covered with sheets of international newspapers (Le Monde, Herald Tribune, etc.) along with pieces of important works by the artist such as Closed Circuit and Homebase for Outer Space. Pictures of isolated human cell laboratories and pastels of detached houses are joined together to create a visionary and yet real picture of society – at a location usually stocked with an individual range of goods, that, in this case, serves as an interface to the world of global news.

Schaufensterinstallation

Materialien: überregionale und internationale Zeitungen, Pastelle von Fertigteilhäusern, Fotos von Details der Arbeit Closed Circuit, Monitor mit VHS-Video. Die Schaufensterfront eines ehemaligen Schuhgeschäfts in Wies (Steiermark) wird mit Zeitungsblättern internationaler Herkunft (Le Monde, Herald Tribune etc.) zugeklebt und mit Versatzstücken bedeutender Arbeiten des Künstlers, wie Closed Circuit und Homebase for Outer Space, ergänzt. Bilder von isolierten menschlichen Zelllaboratorien und Pastellbilder von Einfamilienhäusern fügen sich zu einem visionären, aber doch realen Gesellschaftsbild – an einem normalerweise mit individuellem Warensortiment bestückten Ort, der hier als Schnittfläche zur globalen Nachrichtenwelt fungiert.
